NGO Information Development

On this page:

Background

The non-government mental health sector is required to collect and report mental health data through a national information system called PRIMHD - Project for the Integration of Mental Health Data. PRIMHD will ultimately see NGO and district health board (DHB) mental health services collecting information through a single national system.

This work supports the Ministry of Health's NGO strategy and implementation plan to prepare NGO mental health services to collect and use mental health information at a local and national level. Click to view the Strategy and Approach document (PDF, 275kb) for the NGO implementation of PRIMHD.

What is Te Pou doing?

Te Pou's role is to assist in preparing non-government services to collect and use mental health information. Te Pou will provide the sector with expert advice on outcome measures, provide training for the NGO workforce and offer advice and expertise to NGO providers in the use of information. The outcome will be a consistent process for collecting and using information within the sector.

In addition to this, Te Pou will seek Expressions of Interest (EOI) from NGOs interested in participating in a time-limited pilot to implement and collect a standard measure of functioning that will be useful within NGOs. Such measures may include the ' Personal and Social Performance Scale', commonly known as the PSP. The EOI will be advertised on this website and the Te Pou fortnightly e-bulletin in 2009.
