Waikato DHB concept vs reality
On this page:
What is this work about?
Te Pou is working with Waikato DHB to identify local realities in its mental health services that may impact on its ability to achieve national information development objectives.
This work aims to gain insight into the issues and barriers that might hinder local mental health services from meeting national information requirements. The insights gained will be inform ongoing mental health information developments over the next five years.
The aim is to develop processes for collaboratively reviewing and evaluating both Te Pou's and Waikato DHBs work in this area, in order to maximise any opportunities and enhance learning outcomes that improve the quality of information development projects. This will build on the work of a previous project, which focused on a regional approach to implementing the MH-SMART initiative.
What is Te Pou doing?
Te Pou and the Health Waikato Mental Health Service have signed an agreement to support an ongoing relationship. This provides a platform for a number of jointly-developed initiatives. One of these initiatives is investigating how grass-roots clinicians can practically use various sets of information gathered in a way that supports their work and service users' recovery. Another will look at the value of using a standard measure of function (the Personal and Social Performance Scale or PSP) to support service user recovery.
