What is benchmarking?
Benchmarking refers to the desired standard of performance to be achieved on particular key indicators.
A benchmark is also referred to as a target and represents a ‘mark' on the indicator that defines acceptable performance
Benchmarking indicators
New Zealand has identified a number of performance indicators. These are identified in the report available for download in PDF format below.
Key Performance Indicator framework for New Zealand mental health and addiction services PDF (20.7mb)
Outcome benchmarking
Two indicators explicitly mention outcomes in the key performance indicator report. This website will show benchmarking reports based on these two indicators (complying with the code of conduct).
Casemix adjusted data
All reports disseminated on the Te Pou website will aim to be casemix adjusted. However, to reflect the developmental nature of this work, some of the initial reports may not be casemix adjusted.
Code of conduct
In line with the code of conduct for participation in the Benchmarking Forum only outcome reports which have the explicit permission of the services involved will appear on the Te Pou website.
Te Pou is actively participating in the KPI National Benchmarking Forum which had its first meeting in February 2009. Te Pou is particularly involved in developing ways of presenting KPI outcome information and we will keep you posted on developments, when (as per the code of conduct) we are able to report on them.
