National Outcomes Forum 2006

National Outcomes Forum
7 November, 2006
Waipuna Conference Centre, Auckland
DHBs have been collecting outcomes information since 1 July, 2005, and mental health services have been involved in preparing for the implementation of the MH-SMART Initiative. This work has included developing IT systems, beginning to collect consistently against the Information Collection Protocol and intensive training activity.
This outcomes forum was the first opportunity for New Zealand to stop and reflect upon the foundation framework of the initiative, and also provide a forum for services to start presenting some local examples of collecting and using outcomes information.
We were blessed to have absolutely fantastic speakers who stretched our thinking into the ongoing potential use of mental health information and we need to applaud the presenters who agreed to take this opportunity to present some of the work that their services are involved in.
You can download the available forum presentations by clicking on the links below:
"Everyone's doing a brand new dance now, or are they?" - Tim Coombs
"New Zealand and Outcome Measurement." - Professor Graham Mellsop
"Outcomes Supporting Recovery." - Carolyn Swanson
"The Taranaki Experience - Use of Data." - Steve Harvey
"Clinical Utility the Waitemata Way." - Dave Turner
"NGO Outcome Collection." - Dr Alex Davidson
"Mainland Measurement." - Anthony Nally, John Beveridge, Ryan Papps
The forum was a full-house and, in light of much positive feedback, we are already starting to plan for our next forum in 2007.
